Day2

Sunday -- Another full day  of orientations.  This day we'll call my orientation to London.

Starting out the whole group of us (40students and 13professors) went on a walking tour of historic Bloomsbury.  That is the neighborhood we are staying in, and one of our professors has lived here for 32 years.  He's a hysterical man, who led us to believe he may have been a hippie in the 60s, and his long curly hair helped back him up. We saw where T.S Eliot lived and learned about his ritual on 4th of July -- definitely may have to try that! We saw amazing buildings, encountered beautiful gardens and heard some of the best stories about the families that own the land in these parts.

After we went on a the Big Red Bus tour.  This was like an overview of all things you think of when thinking of London.   We saw Prince Albert's home, Buckingham Palace, Statue of Eros, Tower of London, London bridge, Tower Bridge, Wobbly bridge, Beg Ben, Parliament, 10 downing Street (where the prime minister lives), London Eye, Thames River, HMS Belfast, The Marble Arch, St. Paul's Cathedral, the street Margaret Thatcher lives on, where the Queen lives, the Marble Arch, war memorials, The very First Hard Rock Cafe,  and sooo much more.  It was pretty unbelievable to take it all in at once...
After the bus we walked around, had dinner at an Italian restaurant and then went shopping for a bit.  Purchased a few scarves and a hat!! :) It's only day 2, I'm in trouble!
The rest of the night we went to a few pubs and got to know each other better.
